How to Inspire people to Build a Global Movement

Growing up in a small town in Maine, I came to the realization that my options were limited by my perspective and experiences. I knew that to make the best decisions in life I needed more possibilities to draw from, so I set about experiencing as much as I could. I traveled around the world in search of what could help me and other people broaden their horizons. After a number of significant experiences, including enlightening trips to Iceland and Egypt, I came up with the idea for Couchsurfing. I programmed the original website in 2003 and 2004 while living in Alaska. Read more>>

Stuart Jones, Coworkations

The Limitations of the Digital Nomad Hype

Over the past 15 years Stuart Jones founded several location specific event companies in Barcelona, yet his passion for travel and unconventional work practices fuelled his desire to create a truly lifestyle-based business model. An avid 'future of work' enthusiastic and itinerant traveller, Stuart's 'aha' moment came when he founded Coworkation, which curates Travel Inspiration & Professional retreats for entrepreneurs and creatives.

Ever since serendipitously stumbling upon his dream life in San Sebastian, Spain, where he found a way to make enough money during the summer to allow him to continue travelling for the rest of the year, Stu has been on an eternal workation, coupling his two main passions of travel and entrepreneurism.

Stu is a lifestyle entrepreneur who, considering himself pretty unemployable, has co-founded 8 companies which he has structured to maximise freedom to lead a location-independent lifestyle.  His wanderlust has taken him to over 70 countries where he has searched endlessly for inspirational places to use as his pop-up office.

Torsten Kremser, Nomad Convoy

Vision for Africa: How Digital Nomads Can Make a Difference

Torsten Kremser is wearing many hats, but at his core he’s a Visionary Social Entrepreneur and Global Citizen. Back in 2012 he quit his well paid job in the oil industry, sold everything and bought a plane ticket to Kenya. Since then he spent a big chunk of his twenties traveling and living across Eastern and Southern Africa, with occasional trips across Europe, America and Asia. Enroute he learned about the possibilities that the internet has to offer and became a Digital Nomad. But money alone was never the goal. Africa had opened his heart and mind for the bigger picture. And in January 2015, with the words “A Better World starts with a Better Me”, he founded the innovative, volunteer-driven, Better Me Foundation.

Today it educates and cares for over 300 children in western Kenya. To support his foundation and to put Africa on the map for Digital Nomads, he founded the social enterprise Nomad Convoy. A conscious tour company that organizes a blend of high-level network events mixed with safari adventure. In the process he realized the immense impact Digital Nomads could make in Africa. And this lead to his latest creation: CoDome. A social co-workation with sustainable co-living at Better Me in Kenya.
